Swim Pace Calculator
Calculate your swimming pace per 100 meters or yards to track pool performance.
Note: Standard pool lengths are 25m (Short Course Meters), 50m (Long Course Meters), or 25yds. This calculator determines your average pace.
Understanding Swim Pace
Swim pace is the time it takes to swim a specific distance, usually expressed per 100 meters or per 100 yards. Unlike running pace (min/km), swimming pace is min/100m or min/100yds because distances in pools are standardized.
Pool Course Types
When tracking your swim pace, the pool length matters significantly for turn efficiency:
- SCM (Short Course Meters): 25-meter pool. Most common internationally.
- SCY (Short Course Yards): 25-yard pool. Common in the USA.
- LCM (Long Course Meters): 50-meter pool. Olympic standard. Swimmers push off walls less often, resulting in slightly slower times compared to SCM.
What is a Good Swim Pace?
Pace varies greatly by fitness and stroke. A competitive triathlete may hold a 1:20/100m pace, while a beginner might swim at 2:30/100m. Use this tool to track your improvements over time.
