Why Convert PNG to JPG?
While PNG is excellent for graphics with transparency, JPG (or JPEG) is the standard format for photographs because it offers excellent compression rates. Converting to JPG significantly reduces file size, making it easier to upload to websites, send via email, or store on your device.
Key Differences
- Transparency: JPG does not support transparent backgrounds. When converting a PNG with transparency to JPG, the transparent areas are filled with white (as done by this tool).
- Compression: JPG uses "lossy" compression, which discards some data to reduce file size. PNG is lossless, meaning no quality is lost, but files are much larger.
- Compatibility: JPG is universally supported by almost every device, browser, and image viewer in existence.
