Understanding Fuel Consumption Units
Different countries use different units to measure fuel efficiency. Comparing them requires conversion. This tool allows you to translate between the three main standards instantly.
The Units Explained
- MPG (Miles Per Gallon): Common in the United States. A higher number indicates better efficiency (more miles traveled per gallon).
- L/100km (Liters per 100km): Standard in Europe, Canada, and Australia. A lower number indicates better efficiency (less fuel used to travel 100km).
- km/L (Kilometers per Liter): Often used in Japan. A higher number is better (more kilometers traveled per liter).
Approximate Equivalents
These conversions are based on US Gallons (3.785 Liters). UK/Imperial gallons are different (4.546 Liters).
